Go-bag checklist

Check items off as you pack. Your progress saves on this device.

Emergency supply kit with water, flashlight and first aid

Ready, Set, Go!

Ready

Create defensible space, harden your home, and build your go-bag before fire season.

Set

Fire nearby? Load the car facing out, close windows and doors, stay tuned to alerts, know two ways out.

Go!

Leave early when told — or sooner if you feel unsafe. Don't wait for an official order.

Plan your evacuation route

Know at least two ways out. Check live closures before you leave.

Check closures

Route planning tips

  • Plan two routes in different directions.
  • Follow official evacuation routes, even if GPS suggests a shortcut.
  • Never drive toward smoke or flames.
  • Keep at least half a tank of gas during fire season.
  • Drive with headlights on and windows up; set A/C to recirculate.
  • Look up your zone on Genasys Protect ahead of time.

Smoke & air quality guide

What the AQI numbers mean and what to do.

0–50Good

Normal outdoor activity.

51–100Moderate

Unusually sensitive people limit long exertion.

101–150Unhealthy for sensitive groups

Kids, seniors, and people with heart/lung issues stay inside more.

151–200Unhealthy

Everyone limit outdoor time. Wear an N95 if you must go out.

201–300Very unhealthy

Stay indoors with windows closed and a HEPA filter running.

301+Hazardous

Avoid all outdoor activity. Consider relocating.

Tip: a box fan with a MERV-13 filter taped to the back makes an inexpensive DIY air purifier for one room.
